Additional Information:
| AddInfo | Ellis Swan was known to many people. He was always cheerful and concerned for others. His sudden death in October was a great shock to his large number of friends. His long association as treasurer at the Day Centre and his active participation in the services at the Hannah Levy House, made him popular with many people. I was privileged to know him for twenty years, during which time he suffered personal loss of daughter and wife. However, he was comforted by his other daughter - Lydia, her family and all his friends. He returned this kindness tenfold by his concern for others. A kind and gentle man, a gentleman of great stature, he will surely be missed in this community. A regular shul attendant and believer in the Almighty, he deserves the praise, which was hardly mentioned while carrying out his duties in the organisations which gave him so much pleasure. We have all lost a good friend, a man of integrity, and our consolation is that we knew him as a great guy. Joe Saffer |
