Reference Information Newspaper articles etc. | "German Prisoner of War - probably at a POW camp in Dorchester. Most of the 45 POWs who died at Dorchester are thought to have fallen ill during a flu pandemic. He was subject to a Court Martial at Winchester on 3 March 1917, at which time he was in the 14th Bavarian Infantry. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission maintain that he must have had family in this country who arranged for his body to be transported the 30 or so miles from Dorchester to Bournemouth for burial in a Jewish Cemetery." |
